Our responsibility as Democrats to support Obama regardless of who he chooses?

As the name implies, I don't go there no more.

Well, rarely.  And, after reading this tonight, I remembered why.

"It's our responsibility as Democrats to support Obama regardless of who he chooses."

http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8/22/ 213930/649/476/573130

Really?  Regardless who he chooses?

Homophobic hawk Nunn?

Uber ultra conservative Hagel (good on one issue only, because he's a paleocon isolationist)?

McCain's co chair on the board of the neocon front group the Committee to Liberate Iraq, Bayh?

It's "our responsibility as Democrats" to blindly pledge allegiance to one man, regardless of  what he does ???

Sorry, that would be a 1930's fascist party, not the Democratic Party.

I guess I got my brainless automaton fix for the next few weeks.

PS - This ain't a knock on Obama.  As each minute ticks by, he's getting closer to picking my girl (and the ticket I've been asking for since February).  And, isn't he they guy who said he wanted a running mate to challenge and correct him, not to blindly follow him?

Re: Our responsibility (2.00 / 2)

I don't know what you're voting for in November -- or staying at home for -- but I'm voting for a president, not a vice president.

Yeah, basically.  Politics is full of shitty compromises.  This isn't new.

Re: Our responsibility (none / 0)

A lot of Democrats voted for the war. Biden was one who expressed his regret early on. He's a bridge to help reunite the party along the seams created by that war vote.

Choosing an unrepentant justifier of the AUMF vote would have been impossible, but choosing a someone who saw the truth and changed his mind is a healing gesture to the party.

if god forbid anything happens to the president (none / 0)

There's a real chance McAged will croak or become disabled in the next 4 years, so his VP matters in that regard. For Obama the chance is so remote that it's at the bottom of the consideration list.

I've called Biden an damnable NeoDem for voting with some of the worst of Bush's NeoAgenda, but his sole function now is to help Obama win. And he will do that not only through his credentials -- which are better than McLame's, but by his ability to be the street fighter Obama needs to cover his back and allow him to campaign on the high road which is what he does best.

So find a real reason to attack Obama through Biden -- which you will find impossible to do.

I'm sorry KosNoMore, I really do.... (none / 0)

Kosnomore, I think you are soon to be very dissapointed.

There are no signs left that it is a fake, I don't get Wes...

And, no Hillary.

On Nov 4th, Barack Obama officially ends the Southern Strategy....

Re: Our responsibility (2.00 / 4)

You are absolutely free to vote for whomever you like for whatever reason you like.  You are free to believe that some guy/gal at some website is an idiot...

Look, seriously mate, I do not care if Barack Obama's choice of a running mate annoys you, bothers you, enrages you, or pleases you.  Your vote is your own.  You should use your own calculus to determine what matters, what is sufficient, and what is unforgivable.  It's your vote.

Speaking for myself?  I trust Senator Obama's judgment on this one.  Short of some massive surprise (Cheney, Zombie Reagan, Randal Flagg) I will accept whomever he selects and support the ticket.  Why?

One of my best friends is "enjoying" a very hot afternoon in Iraq right now.  What makes you think I give a shit about what flavor of Democrat or independent-minded Republican Barack Obama picks?

Re: Our responsibility as Democra (none / 0)

He's already picked Biden, a pick you don't list as unacceptable to you.  So why all the unnecessary fuss and angst and hand-wringing over the possibilities of Hagel or Nunn being picked?

Why the circular firing squad? Why do we keep eating our own?

Are you using the word "girl" to refer to a 60 year old woman?
